I am originally from Arlington, Texas and currently live in the city that never sees winter: Houston. I am patiently waiting to wear the other half of my wardrobe. When I’m not praying for colder weather, I am either celebrating or preparing for Foodie Fridays at the Kalypso Houston office. I love to cook, and have since I was a little girl. Back then, I didn’t like to ask for baking help and believed I could do it all by myself. Once, I realized I had switched the flour and baking soda portions in some sugar cookies, and ended up with two cups of baking soda in the cookies. Needless to say, I was then without sugar cookies and my mother without baking soda. Since then, I’ve learned a little about cooking and about myself. I now love to cook and bake for others, serving only cookies with the correct ingredients! In other news, I recently got engaged to the love of my life, John, and we are planning a wedding for early summer.
At any given time, what's in your refrigerator?
- Cookie dough - because I always have some made to make cookies for people
- Grapes (something healthy to even out the cookie dough)
- Milk - because I always seem to be on the run and cereal is the quickest option
What are your travel must-haves?
- Gum. Whether it’s traveling to the grocery store or Europe, I must have gum. I keep a bag of at least 20 packs of gum in my pantry. I have a small addiction.
- Toothbrush/toothpaste. When gum is not a choice because I have to sleep, clean teeth are a must have.
What is your greatest fear?
Losing all of my teeth. My main fear of this is falling down the stairs and hitting my teeth. I always walk down cautiously. I have no explanation for this fear other than that I love to cook and bake, and I’d like to eat those things with my teeth.
If you had a super power, which super power would you have and why?
Teleporting. I don’t enjoy traffic or waiting in lines. This would solve all problems and make traveling the world extremely cost effective.
When was a time you felt you could do anything?
I lived in Princeton, New Jersey for a semester with my sister and her family. One night, I hosted a game night with some Princeton students. We played Bananagrams and I beat them in a few rounds. Beating Princeton students at a crossword game was pretty empowering.
