Four Reasons Some Companies Get More Value from PLM than Others

The eBook Getting the Most from PLM – PLM Drives Tangible Business Value is the result of a joint research project between research firm Tech-Clarity and Kalypso. We researched over 100 companies to determine how some companies get much higher levels of value from their Product Lifecycle Management implementations. 

How do some companies get more value from PLM? Here are some of the basic reasons we found.

  1. Not only are Top Performers more likely to have PLM, they tend to use more advanced PLM capabilities. What sets Top Performers apart isn’t just that they use more modules of PLM, but the fact that they use more advanced capabilities. They go beyond the basics - leveraging capabilities that extend outside of engineering to provide broader benefits to the enterprise. What can your company learn from this?
  2. Top performers get more from their PLM systems. They appear to have a much greater focus on strategic improvements than others.
  3. Top Performers have, on average, used PLM longer than others. The increased value they get from PLM is likely because they’ve had time to develop more mature processes, expand to more users and implement more advanced capabilities. But it doesn’t mean they have been standing still.
  4. Top Performers have continued to invest in PLM through further implementations. For example, they are 41% more likely to have implemented new versions of their PLM system.
